June 13th, 2016

Moving day scheduled? Done. Professional movers hired? Done. Finished packing? Not quite… If your answered no to this question, it may be due to the fact that you are overwhelmed when you see everything in your home that need to be packed. One of the most frequent asked questions is: “How many boxes do I need?”

Calculate what you need in advance in order to make the packing process easier. It will save you money and time and will help you prevent from running out and having to make multiple trips to get additional boxes or wasting money on extra boxes that will not be used. Figuring out how many boxes you will need does not have to be rocket science. To help you figure it out, we have made a useful chart to give you a better idea of the number of boxes you’ll need to purchase depending on the size of your house:

Moving boxes

For the most part the more years you have lived in your house or apartment, the more items you will tend to have. If you have been living in your home for 4 years or longer, or you just know that you have a ton of things, go with a higher number of boxes. It’s also smart to ask your professional  moving company to check if they will purchase any unused boxes or offer a discount on any used boxes. Some moving companies offer both options!

First check with the professionals, and then purchase all of your supplies! Also, don’t forget to do your part to help the environment and always use boxes made with recyclable material. By doing your homework and using the correct methods and supplies, it will help you to get all your valuables to your new house safe and in one piece.
